Ilene is an interesting story. She was rescued off 105 by one of our clients, Lori O’Malley, and released to our hospital for nursing care. One of her rear legs was broken in 3 places, and she was incredibly sick. The weeks passed and passed and though her broken bones healed, she remained sick. Through many, many tests we found that Ilene had a very rare parasite, one that was hard to get rid of. But, she’s strong and she cleared that obstacle, too. Initially, Ilene was to be adopted out, but in the past 5 months of her staying here, she has really grown on us. She has an incredibly infectious personality, and she’s here to stay. As you can see from her picture below, she’s an incredibly hard worker and will be a great asset to our hospital
